Everybody knows that LA is car city and driving is certainly the most straightforward way to get around. That said, public transport may be slow, but it is cheap and it gives you a view of the city that you won't glimpse from the freeway.
If you are arriving on a domestic flight, many locals recommend that you try and avoid using Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX as its better known. It can be a nightmare of traffic congestion.
There are some advantages to landing there though. First, hot competition makes it one of the cheapest places to hire a car. Second, there are few better places for celebrity spotting. Stake out a spot near one of the first class lounges and watch for the people struggling to read the departure boards while wearing shades.
