By the Sea
The Promenade des Anglais and the beaches are where you will end up time after time. But there is more to Nice than this beautiful flower-filled boardwalk.
Town Center
Everything focuses on the Place Massena and its profusion of trees, flowers and fountains. The shopping streets with their department stores and designer boutiques spread out from the square. Two parks, the Massena Gardens and Albert I Gardens offer welcome shade.
Old Nice
The old winding streets are filled with more churches than seems possible, as well as boutiques, galleries, restaurants, bars, live music and markets. It is one of those places where getting lost is a pleasure because you never know what you are going to find next.
The Port
This is a great place for work. You can sit and watch it for hours. Everything from little fishing boats to cruisers and millionaire's yachts pass through here. There are also some superb little restaurants and no shortage of antique dealers.
Cimiez
In this upscale residential area you will find some striking memories of Nice's past. The Roman amphitheater and well-preserved baths are worth seeing, as is the Matisse museum.
Mont Boron
The postcard views of Nice all come from here. It is a stunning panorama, as Elton John would testify. He owns the massive yellow villa on nearby Mont-Alban.
