360 The Restaurant at the CN Tower (301 Front West. Tel: 416 362 5411) The constantly changing view as the restaurant revolves once every 72 minutes produces a truly memorable meal. The service is impeccable, even if the award-winning food does take second place to the vista from this high-tech eyrie, about two-thirds of the way up the tower. Do remember to book as this place can fill up weeks in advance.
Medieval Times (Exhibition Place at Dufferin Gate. Tel: 416 260 1234) The food may not be gourmet, but the kids will love it. They will not be told to stop eating with their fingers, because there's no alternative. The idea is to recreate an 11th century banquet and they didn't use cutlery then. Kids of all ages are also encouraged to make a noise while they eat, cheering on jousting knights and spear-chucking soldiers.
Thai Jasmine Restaurant (338 Jarvis St. Tel: 416 966 6688) When a genuine Victorian mansion is turned into a restaurant you don't expect the cuisine to be Thai. But the combination works. The food is excellent and the fireplaces make for a cozy romantic atmosphere, especially on a cold Ontario evening.
Coco Lezzone Resto and Bar (602 College Street. Tel: 416 535 1489) Situated in Toronto's Little Italy this is the place to come for authentic, upscale Italian food. Daily specials are often the most memorable choice, as is anything based on seafood. You can't miss the bright blue façade.
Mildred Pierce (99 Sudbury Street. Tel: 416 968 9982) Themed restaurants often tend to focus on memorabilia rather than cuisine. Fortunately the name is more to do with the slightly camp feel of the place rather than an excuse to display black and white stills from the Joan Crawford classic. It is a bit hard to find, but this is the place to people watch over Sunday brunch. The high cathedral ceilings are as stunning as the food.
